Braintree celebrated its 56th annual carnival in 2019 and once again we had a terrific day despite the weather. It rained the wind blew and then blew some more.
A number of attactions and events had to be cancelled including the planned Blue Falcons Gymnastic Display and various inflatable activities. The procession went ahead as normal. The efforts put in by entrants must have been huge as the weather in the morning was horrendous. Rain and 40mph winds threatened to ruin the day. Braintree rose above it all and by lunchtime it started to calm down and allow us to have a terrific day.
Attractions in the main arena included the usual array of local talent. Also, around the field was the usual fun fair and selection of stalls and refreshments.
Our primary aims of the carnival are to provide entertainment for the town and to raise funds for our chosen project.
A big thank you to everyone who takes part in the event. We could not do it without you all.
